Submission
There are two prizes. Entrants may submit only one case report per year for consideration.
The Medical Student Prize - open to any medical student.
The Junior Doctor Prize - open to any doctor within two years of qualification.
Submissions are now being accepted for the 2011-12 Prizes. Submissions will close on Tuesday 31st January 2012 at 6pm. Entries submitted after this will not be considered under any circumstances.
- A written case report relating to any discipline should be submitted as a Microsoft Word readable document.
- The case report itself must have no information that can identify the candidate or hospital or university where the candidate is from. Please read this guide to maximise your chances and to avoid common errors.
- The file should be saved as the candidate’s name and the relevant section:
John_Smith_student.doc
Jane_Brown_FY.doc
The covering e-mail should state:
1. the candidate’s grade
2. year of graduation
3. place of work or study, and
4. telephone number
and should include a statement declaring that the case:
1. is the candidate’s own work
2. has not been presented at a regional or national meeting
3. has not been published nor is in submission for publication, and
4. is not longer than 1000 words.

Shortlisting
Shortlisting will be carried out by the organisers and all entries will be marked according to the following criteria:
- Succinct and effective presentation of the case
- The choice of case and its interest to a general medical audience
- Clarity and explanation of any diagnostic or management dilemma
- Quality of English
The decision of the shortlisting panel will be announced by 23rd February 2012 and is final.
